Basketball

Itty Bitty Basketball

This program will introduce boys and girls to the fundamentals of basketball in a non-competitive setting. This will help your child develop social skills such as listening and following directions as well as hand-eye coordination. On a mini court child will learn the basics using a size appropriate ball and lowered nets.

Basketball Skills and Drills

Develop your basketball skills at The REC! Children will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, and dribbling through a series of fun drills and games. All skill levels are welcome.

Ages: 1st Grade – 4th Grade

Basketball League

Fairview Heights Parks & Recreation is hosting a boys and girls basketball league for children in 1st-4th Grade. Children will be assigned to teams according to grade. Team requests may be accepted but cannot be guaranteed. Volunteer coaches are needed, please let us know if you are willing to help out. All volunteer coaches must be able to pass a background check.

Registration Deadline is Friday, December 17. There will be a $20 late fee for people that register after the deadline.

Youth Skills Basketball Competition

Fairview Heights parks and recreation will be hosting a youth basketball skills competition for grades 3rd-5th. If your kid has an early passion for the game of basketball, this will be the perfect opportunity for them to perform individual drills while still competing with other kids. Each participant will be timed during each drill in the basketball categories of defense, passing, shooting, and layups. Once all 5 skills are completed, we will then tally their scores and the winners of the competition will be rewarded a special prize!

Adult Free-Throw Shooting Contest

Fairview Heights parks and recreation will be hosting a free-throw shooting contest for ages 18 and up. There will be three different age groups starting from 18-35, 36-50, and 50 and up. Each participant will have a chance to shoot 15 free-throws. The winner of each age group will be rewarded with a special prize from The Rec.

Baseball

Tee Ball League

Residents: $45

Fairview Heights Parks & Recreation will be hosting a Tee Ball League at the Miracle League Field at Moody Park. Our coed league is designed for 4–6-year-olds interested in playing tee ball in a fun non-competitive setting. Participants will get three pitches from a coach, if they do not make contact, they will be able to hit from a batting tee.  Players that register will be assigned to a team, or they may make a team request. Practices times and games will be announced at the beginning of the season. All players will receive a Fairview Heights Parks & Recreation Tee Ball shirt and hat. Players must bring their own glove. Parks and Recreation will provide helmets and bats for teams throughout the season. Players may also bring their equipment if they choose. We are in need of volunteer coaches. All volunteer coaches must pass a background check. Selected coaches will receive a program credit at the end of the season.

Dates: Games every Monday from April 17-May 22 (Practices will be arranged at a later date)

This program will introduce boys and girls to the fundamentals of soccer. Our Co-ed soccer program is welcoming all skill levels to come out, improve your game, and have fun! Here you will learn how to pass, receive, shoot, and more!
